WhatsApp Broadcast Lists: Send One Message to Many People Without Making a Group
Need to send the same message to 20 people, but do not want to create a group where everyone can see each other's replies? WhatsApp has a feature for exactly this: Broadcast lists. One message from you reaches many people, but each person receives it as a private message — and their reply comes only to you.
One Important Rule to Know
A broadcast message is only delivered to people who have saved your phone number in their contacts. If someone has not saved your number, they will not receive your broadcast — even though they are on your list. So if an important person is not getting your messages, ask them to save your number first. This is a real WhatsApp rule, not a problem with your phone.
Good Ways to Use Broadcast Lists
- Festival wishes to family and friends without a noisy group.
- Shop or business updates for customers, without sharing customers' numbers with each other.
- Class or team notices where replies should stay private.
- Event invitations when you want personal replies, not group chatter.
Managing Your Lists
To edit a list, open it and tap its name: you can change the list name, add or remove people, or delete the list when you no longer need it. Deleting a list does not delete the chats you already had with those people.
A broadcast list keeps things simple and private. If you often find yourself copying and pasting the same message to many people, try it once — it saves time and keeps everyone's replies where they belong: between you and them.
